Another year has come and gone and I know a lot of you are gearing up for a new fitness routine. Some might laugh at all the people who sign up for gym memberships as part of their new year’s resolution, but you don’t worry about them. You do you. If you want to use the new year to set new goals and push yourself toward a healthier lifestyle, let the haters hate. Then brush your shoulders off and do your thing. Besides, jokes on them because you get the best deals during this time of year. This is the time when I stock up on new gym clothes, protein, shoes, etc. Brands and companies also know you’re gearing up for a change, and they go to the nines to get your attention. Many gyms will have zero down and other kinds of deals. I’m still happy with Planet Fitness, but shop around!

Anyway, today I’m sharing what I carry in my gym bag, because I wouldn’t want you to have a bad workout because you forgot your water bottle, or something.
If you haven’t read about my favorite fitness routine and how I went from a size 8 to a size 2, you can read all about that here. And this is what you’ll need in your gym bag to have an awesome time at the gym!
What’s In My Gym Bag
Gym Tote. I opted to carry a tote rather than a large duffle bag. I find I can fit everything I need, and it’s easier to carry around and throw in the car. I typically wear my gym clothes to the gym, but if I don’ Here’s one that’s similar to mine.
Gym Shoes. Yep. I don’t wear my shoes outside of the gym. I put them on when I get there. This helps them to last longer & makes me feel better knowing I have clean, supportive shoes. Opt for a low heel shoe to help maintain stability during strength training.
Smartphone Armband. An armband is essential for my workouts. It holds my important items, plus keeps my phone within reach. I use my phone a lot through my workouts for music and to track my workouts. Bodybuilding.com and the Live Fit Program has an app you can download to walk you through each workout. The armband helps to keep your phone within reach.
Earbuds. A no brainer for me. Download your favorite playlist, or start a Pandora station and rock out during your workout. Blutooth headphones have less cords to tangle up, and these ones are a great price on Amazon.
Water Bottle. Staying hydrated is important during your workout. This one is my favorite, I have two! It has a screw top for easy cleaning. But what I really like is the single hand push button open and close feature. Plus, the blue ring on top makes for easy carrying.
Blender Bottle & a banana. I add a scoop of protein powder in my blender bottle and toss it in my bag. At the end of my workout, I add water, shake it up, and drink my shake with my banana. Jamie Eason recommends a protein shake and banana after each workout.
Combination Lock. Obvs, right? Once I went to the gym without a lock…and then I left. So, don’t do that. 🙂 Get a lock. But not a key lock, just get a combination lock. It’s one less key you have a chance of losing. 🙂
Hairties. Just toss a whole package in there. Because there will come a day when you think you had one and you don’t. So just buy a whole package specifically for your gym bag.
I hope that helps you plan your gym bag. Don’t forget to check out my review of Jamie Eason’s Live Fit 12 Week Trainer. It’s a free program with diet and exercise all planned for you & *spoiler alert* I love it.
