Fixer Upper’s episode of The Mt. Rockwood Story is a unique one in that the homeowners bought a house that absolutely clashed with their design style. And they made Joanna aware of it every steps of the way. This house was a traditional style home with not a single fleck of the french country feel that the homeowners wanted. What really sparked their interest in this home was the views of the lake. So Joanna had to work her magic in transforming this traditional style house into the french country home the homeowners dreamed of. And she did not disappoint!

The first thing she got rid of was the orange and red color that encompassed the house. French country is a very light and airy style, so lightening the brick and walkway was the perfect way to instantly change the feeling of the home. You can do this too by purchasing brick and mortar paint like this here.
Joanna also created a beautiful porch space by extending the existing porch along the entire length of the house. She added french doors where the windows used to be, and swapped the old shutters for some french blue board and batten shutters.
