I have a few projects that I’ve done in the past and never posted about them, mainly because I didn’t have a good platform to share the steps. So in the next few weeks I’ll be sharing those projects! I do have to warn you, however, that this was before I had a DSLR or a good camera phone, so the pictures aren’t the best quality. With that being said, I still think these projects are worth sharing!
I found this wood frame at a rummage sale for $5.
I was really excited to find it because I had never seen anything like it! All the thinks I was thinking, what to do with all that extra room around the frame!? I thought a few thoughts, one was that this would be so great to use as a wedding gift, you know, where people write their well wishes and you put your wedding picture in the middle? That was my initial idea for this frame, but I didn’t have any friends getting married any time soon, and so that thought passed.
Anyway, I had this bible verse in my head for a few days: Where you stay, I will stay. It’s from Ruth. I thought it would be so adorable to have that bible verse along with a picture of a dog. It’s so fitting, right?
This was a really quick project, it probably only took me 20 minutes at the most.
My choice of paint was Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint in Luckett’s Green
I loved working with this milk paint. there was a time when that’s all I used. But it gets expensive, so I only use it on smaller projects now.
and yes, I did use a twig to stir my paint. You gotta do what you gotta do!
Paint it on real nice and good like.
I used a permanent marker to write the text, but nowadays they have those fancy acrylic paint sharpies. This worked just fine for me.
Here she is with my pup Lucinda!
And here she is at the craft show. I sold her that day, kinda regretting it now.
Have you found any frames with ‘good bones’ lately?

Wow- SUCH a cool frame!! I would have snatched that puppy up in a second if I saw it at a craft show (pun intended 😉 ). Also, you do craft shows?! You’re so fancy Crystal!
I love the frame. I’ve done the same thing, re-do a piece of furniture then sell it only to regret it. Some pieces I wish I still had, then others sit in my garage! I’ve never tried miss Mustard Seeds paint, do you like it?
I do really like it, but it can get expensive. It comes in little bags and it’s around $22 I think per bag. It can cover small items, but I once tried to paint over a teacart with some of the white shade, and it took the entire bag. wah-wah.
Oh, I love this!! It matches my family room furniture perfectly! I wish I could have bought it from you instead. 🙂 I suppose I’ll just have to make my own!
The frame is so adorable. You have such diverse skills and creative ideas. I do hope that you find more wonderful frames like this…..because many folks should have one of your beautiful pieces. Looking forward to the rest of your early projects! XO …Susie 🙂
That is such a great before and after! I found a couple of matching stools (from two different places) once and reupholstered and refinished them. I LOVED them! And then, same thing, they sold IMMEDIATELY at the craft show I made them for. And almost just as immediately I regretted that I hadn’t kept them back at my own house. Glad to see you back here this week! 🙂
What a great find! I love the way you distressed it! Great work!
Thank you Sara!!
