So a few weeks back my friend and I were on the hunt for a side table for her nursery. The table had to be (these were her descriptive words) small enough to fit in a tight spot, kind of squareish, maybe about a foot wide, with shelves for books.
We spent some time walking through Home Goods and Bed Bath and Beyond but couldn’t find anything she really thought would be a good fit.
Then a lightbulb hit me…or maybe I stubbed my foot on this item walking into my kitchen when I returned.
I really could have kicked myself. I forgot I had this thing, sitting in the middle of my doorway for two weeks. A friend of ours gave it to us because they were cleaning out their house, so naturally they gave me all their stuff. And hence my house is never clean.
Anyway, the piece was not in very bad shape. It had been neglected, had a few scratches and bumps, and the door didn’t close properly. That didn’t matter to me because we didn’t want a door anyway. So I took the hardware off, patched the holes, and gave everything a few fresh coats of white paint.
The top I decided to add a faux wood look for some contrast. The top is all particle board, so stripping the paint was out of the question. And last minute I added this fun detail to the top.
I used my Cricut to print out a stencil, stuck it on, and brushed lightly with paint over top to give it that distressed look. I did absolutely no sanding to it. Pretty cool huh?

Very pretty! You did a really nice job. I love how you did the top and how the 3 letters stand out more then the rest.
Cute!!! So cute!!! You are a master with those stencils!! Well done.
