Hi friends!
Do you give your pets gifts for the holidays? I can’t be the only puppy mommy who wants to give a special present to my pup. After all, dogs are a part of the family! I’ve been thinking about what I could get Lucinda for Christmas that would be quick and easy, but that she would absolutely love. Cue: BarkBox. They asked if I thought Lucy would enjoy a BarkBox subscription and I thought it would be the perfect Christmas gift for her.
For those of you who have never heard of BarkBox before, it’s a monthly subscription box full of goodies for your dog. You sign up for a subscription which costs $20 (and that includes shipping), and they’ll send you a box right away with toys and treats worth over $40, and then the 15th of every month after that.
A happy dance in a box!
Before I said yes about partnering with BarkBox, I first asked some of my friends if they had BarkBox and what they thought of it. I was actually surprised at how many of my friends already had a subscription for their dogs and everyone had only great things to say about it! I’m told their dogs absolutely love it, and that their customer service is great. They replace toys that your dog doesn’t like for free. And if you want to give feedback about any of their treats or toys, or if you want to update your pup’s profile to better customize your subscription, they make it super easy! This was a sigh of relief for me, especially because I was worried about our house allergies.
BarkBox Customizes Your Box!
Because of my Celiac, all of our pets are now also gluten-free. You never know when one of them is going to give you a big lick in your open mouth. And that’s kind of a problem if you’ll get sick from their food. So, I requested that they only send all-natural, gluten-free treats! In fact, their website says their treats never contain wheat, soy, or corn. Not all the treats are guaranteed gluten free, but you can request that through their customer service like I did. So it’s not something I will ever have to worry about. This is such a life (and time) saver because now I don’t have to search the stores for new gluten-free treats. They’ll just send them to my door!
New Themes Each Month
Each month is customized to your dog and has a fun monthly theme. This month’s theme was “Dogmas in the City”, so they had cute little toys that had different Christmas in the city themes. Lucy got a “Norm the Nutcracker”and a plush christmas lights toy, “Holly, Jolly, and Gabe” along with two full-sized bags of treats and a beef bone.
Lucinda’s Review of Her First BarkBox
Lucy is alway curious about toys, but she honestly doesn’t know how to play with them. She pulled the nutcracker out almost immediately and brought it to her bed. But she was most interested in the treats. She is very food driven, so I already knew the treats would be her favorite.”. It’s been quite fun teaching her how to play using the toys and the treats together.
I know, it’s weird that I need to teach her how to play! All she wants to do is snuggle and play with the cat. She is the funniest little dog. The great thing about BarkBox is that if she doesn’t like a toy, I can let them know and they’ll send something else for free!
She loved every treat, and went kind of nuts over the beef bone. In fact, our cat got in on the action when we opened the box. You can see him getting a little sniff in while Lucy wasn’t looking!
I felt so bad for her because you could see how excited she was to try all the treats, but I needed to get pictures too! So I eventually opened one of the bags and was giving her treats so she would pose for pictures.
But her paws-down, number one favorite was the beef bone. She was so excited to sink her teeth into that bone, that when I walked over to the kitchen to grab the scissors, she jumped all the way there. She’s only allowed to eat it in her bed though, because these bones can stain carpet!
