I have used a few different apps and programs to create some blueprints for rooms of the house. This kitchen design was created by the Lowe’s Room Designer online. It’s relatively easy to use, and it will let you pick from a lot of different textiles, appliances, etc.
My idea is to have a kitchen that has work stations rather than the old work triangle. One big peeve of mine is a kitchen that is meant for one cook. The triangle becomes obsolete as soon as someone who isn’t cooking enters the kitchen. All chaos breaks loose, and someone ends up hurt.
So here is the vision for the space:
Peninsula, gone. Corner shelves, gone. Stove centered on far wall instead of crammed in the corner. Refrigerator moved to:
Bam! Empty wall is new useable. With still a spot for an ‘eat-in area’ built into an island for…drum roll please…EXTRA COUNTER SPACE!
I’m planning on building an island using the plans from Ana-White’s Farmhouse Table, installing butcher-block counter tops, subway tile, and open shelves.
