Hey all! It’s Sydney from Mahle’s Market here to share with you one of my family’s favorite summer time recipes. This pineapple mango salsa is the perfect mix of savory and tangy; with a little bit of sweet thrown in the mix too. It’s the perfect side to take to those BBQs and potlucks as it’s not too spicy for little ones but still has enough tang and flavor for the grown ups too.
I’m not much of a fan of spicy food, unless we’re talking about buffalo wings, then bring on the heat! But really, mild salsa is sometimes too spicy for me. My husband on the other hand likes the heat so hot his tongue might fall off. When it comes to salsas and other dips we often have a hard time finding a happy medium. Our boys are polar opposites too with my five year old taking after me on the mild side and my four year old being a fan of the spicy foods like his dad. So when I was making this salsa I was a little nervous to see what my two spice loving boys would think of it.
I’m happy to report that they loved it! So did I. There isn’t much spice in them, aside from the cumin, and the tangy flavors of the different fruits, vegetables and herbs pair perfectly together. If you want to add a little more spice you could add diced jalapeños and/or onions but they give me heartburn so I left them out of ours.
I’ve served this salsa with both regular tortilla chips and cinnamon chips and it goes well with both. It also goes really well with these Sweet & Sour Chicken Kebabs.
