The sitting room in this episode is one of my all time favorites. I feel like I say that a lot..? I love how warm and inviting Joanna made this space. The room is wall to wall shiplap, and open to the family room which has the perfect shade of blue. I think the two rooms compliment each other very well. If you have open spaces like this and want to create a little separation, consider adding a sofa and a sofa table to sort of divide the spaces. But be sure that there’s still plenty of room to walk around!
I absolutely love the white shiplap against the pop of color that is that sofa! I had a really hard time finding a similar sofa, but I got pretty darn close! The chandelier Joanna uses in this sitting room is actually one of my favorite light fixtures. And this is the first time we actually get to see those fabulous zinc tables that Joanna seems to favorite.
If you look closely, there’s a real ‘deconstructed’ theme going on here. The exposed shiplap, the metal frame for a light, and those arm chairs. That adds a casual feel to otherwise stuffy sofa and pillows. and did you catch that the fireplace is a phony? You can create your own faux fireplace! Here’s a faux fireplace tutorial. Notice there are no window coverings either, keeping this space simple and open.
